After having to have repairs done in two different rooms, everything had to be moved out of those rooms. So that had me deciding I would go thru everything and find out what the heck I was hanging onto, simply because it was “tucked away” temporarily. Only thing is, you don’t get to it and the collection grows.

Amazing what I found that I no longer even knew I had, proving I obviously did not need it or was now out of date.

And so I began tossing, shredding, filing etc. What a therapeutic feeling. Even though no one would know I had done anything by looking around the room.

From there it turned into what I had in the cupboards in the kitchen. So many dishes, glasses & cooking utensils so rarely if ever used. A lot come out for the special celebrations only and then you do really need them though.

Then you come across the keepsakes that bring back so many memories.
Things passed down from generations in some cases. As you start looking at them, time flys by, remembering the occasions when you received this item and from who, grandparents, parents, maybe from your kids. Priceless time spent. You wash or dust it off and put it back in its spot. It is such a fun and happy few hours.

Only problem is it does take a long time depending on how much you have and so I am still sorting things.

You will thoroughly enjoy the process as long as you forget about how long you may take. It would be easy to just toss things out but you would miss out on the nostalgia of the moments spent.

I hope you are lucky enough to have happy memories.

City or Country Life

Which one are you?

We are all so different which makes us all that much more interesting.

Funny but there are two basic sides we are all on in any given situation. It does not matter what topic, but for this blog I am referring to City or Country preferences

City lovers enjoy the vibrant activities, the action, choices of close by entertainment, and dining in fine restaurants etc. They love the amazing skyscrapers, no travelling long distances to work or entertainment. They love the views from the top of the buildings.
Personally I think that is great…. if you are that type of person.

On the other hand, the Country lover would far prefer to be a long way away from the City, going there only when there is no choice as in having appointment or taking in a concert or play that the family really wants to see. Once a year is more than enough.
No one is right or wrong. It is what is right for that person.

For me there is no doubt. The view in the forest far outweighs that of a towering building. Give me trees, gardens, flowers, trails to walk, the sounds of the crickets or frogs at night. The beautiful smell of nature each different season.
Walking through a forest of tall trees and hearing the little animals scurrying about, the squirrels, chipmunks during the day and at nite the sounds of the nocturnal creatures like raccoons, porcupines and skunks. Perhaps something a little larger depending on where you are. If camping in that environment it could be fox, or perhaps even a bear. I have camped with all of them.

Having a home even in the suburbs allowing you to perhaps have a garden and grow your own veggies is relaxing and enjoyable. The smell of freshly cut grass it awesome.

The City lover could think of nothing they would less like to do. For the most part these are very busy professional people who have to be in the City all the time for work, have adapted to and come to love City life. For them a weekend in the Country is all they need occasionally.

When you think about it, both love a jungle, one of trees, the other of skyscrapers.

For me it is all about Country but that does not make me right. It is what is right for you and what you enjoy.

Which do you prefer? Something to ponder.

Nite Owl or Daytime Person

IMG_0346Nite Owl or Daytime Person
Which one are you?

Many of us have jobs, kids in school, and a variety of things that just have to be done during the day. The farmer certainly is not out there at night looking after his animals or planting in the dark. But they do harvest at night when necessary.

Having said that, it does not make all these people a Daytime person, just doing what they have to do when the time is relevant.

The Nite Owl just loves working and enjoying all the things that are going on after 5:00pm. They love to stay up late so enjoy working a nite shift, having late dinners, and watching all their favorite TV programs that they can stream later. The needs of the day are done, kids asleep, no phone calls, it is your time.

What is right? There is no right or wrong. Research has proven that we have a
built in clock that makes us who we are. There are schools, now, that have come to realize that all children should not be starting school quite so early. Personally I am a firm believer in that. You cannot change who you are anymore than a leopard can change its spots!

There is one huge problem though that Daytime people do not understand. For them it can seem that if you get up at noon or a bit later, then you are lazy. They have been at work or doing their thing for 5 or so hours and cannot figure out how someone could be in bed. It may never cross their mind that perhaps you went to bed just before they got up.

It is very hard to be a Nite Owl in a daytime World. The thing is, though, that they do what they have to if commitments are daytime related. There is no choice. What happens to Nite Owls is, regardless of how early they had to be up and at it during the day, their most unnatural time, come nite time they wake up making for a very long day.

The Daytime person will just tell them to go to bed earlier. It does not work that way. Your body clock is not ready for sleep. You will toss and turn, no sleep whatsoever unless a short catnap, making it very hard to get up for your daytime job the following morning.
Where the Nite Owl can adapt, even at hardship to their biological clock, the Daytime person is programmed to the normal sun up and sun down time. The Daytime person will crawl into bed almost as soon as the kids are tucked in.

No one is right or wrong. What is it right for you? You are the only one who counts. Just know, people may never quite understand you, try as you may to explain it.

So be yourself regardless of criticizms. Your friends or relatives will understand that that is who YOU are, even if they do not quite “get it”.

I totally understand as I am the ultimate Nite Owl, I have been since I was a wee child.
